Getting Help Offline

How can I get Help to search off line rather than immediately connecting to
MS?
Thx

In Word 2007, press F1 to open the Help dialog and then click on the button
at the bottom of the dialog which should say 'Connected to Office on line'.

2003 - SAT
The only F1 option seems to be to "Connect to Microsoft Online', followed by
a wild goose chase link to MS about updating the list from which I was
hoping to find the offline info.

So when you click on the 'Connected to Microsoft on line' button at the
bottom of the Help dialog, it doesn't have the option 'Show content only
from this computer'?

It looks like you found your answer but I'm not sure if you discovered that
you can have offline Help by default but then use online Help if you find
the offline Help isn't enough. Here's an article that covers how to
configure Help to access online Help content only when you need it:

Thank you Beth - very interesting
I never cease to be amazed how many specific topics are the subject of
websites that people put up to help others, and to clarify the infinite
number of mysteries in MS products. It's great for us amateurs - maybe, in
50 years or so, MS will make public what they were thinking about when they
dreamed up some of these features, and more particularly, their reasoning on
the default settings they though everybody 'wanted'

Whatever!

Thank you again
Dave
