Getting lines in margins when I insert picture

Any time I try to paste a picture/screen shot into Word
2002, I am getting lines in the left margin . These
lines disappear if I remove the picture.

Any suggestions?

Do you have Track Changes enabled?

Its best if you try pasting the picture or image in an application such as
Photo-Editor or Microsoft Paint, save it then enter Word. From the Insert
Menu, click "Picture", "From File" locate the image in a location you saved
it, then open in Word.
