Getting Newsgroups In Outlook 2003

I just installed Office Standard 2003, and when I started Outlook the first
time, I set up my account (actually imported it from Outlook Express), and
then followed the procedure to put the News item in the Go Menu. Did it by
the book ... down arrow on the standard toolbar, selected Customize, then
the Go menu, then dragged the News item into the Go Menu, and it went to the
Newsreader like it was supposed to when I clicked on the newly inserted News
item in the Go Menu. But when I exited from Outlook, and restarted it, the
News item was gone from the Go menu, and it was no longer available in the
Customize dialog anymore. This is weird, and rather than tongue tie myself
to with a specific question, I'll just go with what should I do now? I do
want to read news from Outlook.

I found the solution. I was also using Outlook Express as my newsreader to
work around this problem, and your reply reminded me how absurd this is, so
I went sleuthing on the Microsoft Outlook Website and found this:

**************
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.
******************

After you make OE the default newsreader, open up Outlook and the News
command will in the Customize list again. After putting the News command
back into the Go menu, I closed Outlook, opened up OE and cleared the
"Always perform this check..." and clicked the No button. Haven't had any
problems since and the News command stayed in the Go menu like it was
supposed to.
