Getting rid of an old pst

I have outlook 2007 on both desktop and notebook. I did a search and deleted
all pst files on the notebook and copied the pst from the desktop back to
the notebook. Notebook pst with all emails, ect remain. Can't figure out
what to do next. Would like to regularly sinc the two, but have not been
successful. Any help would be appreciated

What happens when you start notebook Outlook, does it not give an err.msg?

No messages ... error or otherwise .... just the entire setup with the same
old emails in place. I am sure that there remain no copies of even old pst
files on the drive. I know it is difficult to trouble shoot from your
vantage point, so any suggestions at all would be appreciated. I hate to
uninstall outlook. I have copied the pst file from the desktop to the
default location where I had kept the notebook pst. But nothing seems to
change. Thanks for any help

If Outlook still shows your old mails, either you havent deleted / otherwise
removed the old data files or your copy process went wrong.
Within Outlook, rt click Personal Folders>Properties>Advanced ........File
name will show location & name of the pst.
With outlook closed, go to that location, in explorer, move any pst files to
eg Documents Folder, then copy your desktop pst to that location (ensure the
copied file is named the same as the origonal data file)

Also, be aware that you never delete PST files before you disconnect them
from Outlook. Doing so will corrupt your profile. Clearly, you did not
delete your default PST file.
