Getting rid of grey background from text copied from internet

Some sites and forums have a light grey background, such as the screenshot below. If one copies text from there into a Word doc, the background comes with it. Is there a way to get rid of it, such as turning it white? The text itself can be edited. Thanks,

Without knowing how the particular website's shading was applied, it's impossible to specify any remedy other than simply pasting the content as plain text.
