Getting rid of the span tag

How do stop Frontpage from inserting the irritating <span> tag around
everthing I type. If I correct a mispelled word or change the sentence
FrontPage sticks the tag in the middle of the sentence. I have to keep going
to "Find & Replace" and deleting the tag from my pages. Is there a setting I
can change that stops it from happening? Thanks

I run over 20 websites. Is there anyway to set make it the default setting
for all my existing and new FrontPage web sites instead of changing the
setting on each of them? Is MS coming out with a new version soon?
DreamWeaver doesn't do this.

What language do you have set in your meta tag...like:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">

This is on all of my webpages:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">

With a website open in FrontPAge, Tools->Site Settings - Language Tab
Tick the box "Ignore the keyboard when deciding the encoding of new pages"

It also helps if your content-language tab matches your keyboard layout
I use
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-gb">
with a UK keyboard.
