Getting "This product has already been activated" messages when ad

Gareth Howell

A client downloaded and installed the trial client. At the end of the trial,
they purchased licenses, uninstalled the trial code and installed the full
code with the new license.

Now, when the user tries to add a person to a workspace, or creates a new
workspace, he gets an error box with "This product has already been
activated" and he can't proceed.

I can't find anything on this in the support KB or here in the forum.

For the moment I have told him to do a clean install, but any other ideas?

Hi Gareth -

My only suggestion is to check that the you haven't issued the same license
code to two people.

a bit bizzare
groove is confirming something positive ie that activation has been done
but responding negatively by not proceeding

mark's though that maybe someone got the wrong key is possible

the reason is the trial download file / license key pair can only be used 5
times
if you install on more machines you will get this message

you need to download groove again again and pick up a fresh trial key and
reinstall that copy - seen this happen here a numver of times because we had
to install over 30 machines for a trial. kept having to download fresh files
and get new keys

sorry for some typo's in the last post
and an incomplete one

moral is that groove does not update correctly once you have had the trial
client installed - need a complete clean out it seems and that can mean
deleting all groove data folders as well.

also the license keys we have purchased do not activate the Trial download -
we are told there is another file / media but have yet to find / receive it.

just had a chat with the MS guys here - seems there are different versions
of groove / office enterprise files and keys are somehows paired to them.
Very confusing compared to the old groove hosted services where you could get
your keys and they worked with all versions / media.
