getting updates problem

Ben

Hi,

I got a message saying something could be updated and clicked the link which
eventually gave me this message on the page:

NOTE: Detection shows that Office products on your computer have been updated
by your Office product administrator from the administrative installation
point on a server. This means that you should not update Office products
yourself. If you are an Office product administrator, please visit the Office
Resource Kit for more information.

I have a single computer at home without a server and have never updated this
before. How did this come about?

Microsoft does not send people messages inviting them to install updates.

That's fine because I never received one. This came about from within the
product itself and directly from the microsoft site using microsoft update. I
am familiar with the junk emails sent out with viruses and the like. The
microsoft update web site gave me the below message.

Would appreciate and help. Or maybe I this is better for a WIn XP newsgroup?

regards,
Ben

Actually, I managed to get the updates in the end.

Thanks,
