Gibberish in Word document

I have one user who is experiencing an odd thing when receiving Word
docs from a colleague. We are using Office:Mac 2004 on new Intel
iMacs. When opening a Word document attached in an email, there are
random instances where this string is inserted in place of names.

CONTACT_con-41c4ABCD101/c/s/l

The slashes may not be the right direction and she couldn't tell if
the last character was an L or a one.

Any ideas? When I open the same attached document everything is fine.

Thanks!

Just a guess, but it looks like the name is the result of a contact field,
possibly inserted from Outlook. Have the user try Control/Right-Clicking the
entry, see if Toggle Field Codes appears in the contextual menu - if so,
select it & see if the name shows up. Alternatively to the right-click you
can key Option+F9 to toggle field codes.
