I have searched technet, contacted the idiots at microsoft, all to no avail.
HOW do I get gif animations files to work in outlook 2007. Seems, based on
what I have seen in this forum, there is no answer, certainly none from
technet or microsoft support.

That's because there isn't an answer. It is not possible. They don't, and
will not, work. Save it to your hard drive and open it in IE, assuming you
trust the sender.

That really is not an answer. OK, let me understand, gif animations worked in
older versions of outlook but do not in the newest (2007). I am to assume
(ass of you and me) that this is an advancement of the software, done to
protect me? Gee I feel so secure.

Sometimes, the answer is no. You want to do something, I just told you it
is not possible. That *IS* the answer. So, again, how is that not an answer.

Not the answer you want? Sure, I'll buy that. You want to view animated
GIFs in Outlook. You don't want the answer to be 'You can't do it.'

And yes, they were viewable in older versions of Outlook.

And yes, it is a security issue. Animated gifs can contain code. If you
would like there to be a Trust Center option to enable Animated GIFs, contact
the "idiots" at Microsoft and request they open a feature request bug to
add the feature. If they refuse, ask to speak to a supervisor. Just don't
assume that just because you ask for a feature, it will happen. And frankly,
if I were them and knew you referred to 'us' as idiots, I'd really not want
to help you. Flies, sugar, vinegar sorta thing. Heck, I'm not even sure
why I felt the urge to assist you. I've done the tech support thing, and
calling the phone jocks idiots really irks me, even knowing my fair share
of idiot coworkers.

If you don't like the featureset, don't use the product. If you don't have
a choice in using the product because your company forces you to use it,
complain to them for focing you to use a product that you deem to be deficient.
If you were one of my users, you'd need to bring some solid evidence as
to how this limitation actually interferes with your work.
