Gif - visio conversion

I want to build a Visio app that allows me to convert pictures
(actually gif images with building schemas) into Visio drawings (with
lines/curves etc) for further processing.

Any hints (documentation, books, sample code, etc.) that could give me
some orientation to achieve this task would be of great help.

Do you have the software/code/knowledge to analyze the gif and get vectors
from it?

If you need info on how to automate Visio, then you might try this book (not
sure if it was updated for 2003)
