Gift reminders

Is there anyway to set up Outlook to warn you "for all birthdays" to show the
date a week in advance, or something to that nature, to remind you that you
have a card or gift to buy? If I don't see it pop up until that day that it
is someone's birthday, I wouldn't necessarily have time to get them anything.

One could set up a recurring task on the day and frequency desired with a
reminder appropriately timed to allow one to secure the much needed card,
flower, chocolates, diamonds, or whatever...

When you add a birthday, make sure to open the series and change from the
default reminder period to x.5 days so you get a reminder close to midday
instead of close to midnight. This solves 2 problems, the one you mention
and also PDAs sounding the alarm at 11:45pm to tell you your friend's
birthday is about to commence.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Judy: I want to get an advance warning about birthdays also. I have tried to
follow your instructions but I don't know how to "open the series and change
from default reminder"
I can't find anything called 'series'. Where is it? and how do I change the
default reminder.
Thanks
Jim F.

what happens when you double click on a birthday? do you get a dialog asking
to open the one item or the series?
