My biggest concern going to XP is will my existing programs work? Some are
no longer supported, i.e., Parsons Address Book which I have two files
containing in excess of 2000 names, addresses, phone numbers, email
addresses, a multitude of envelope sizes for printing, a data base for
lodge, business, neighborhood, family, and more. I wonder if Act can do,
and at a lower cost???
David from his Winnebago in the shadows of Uluru (trying to impress David)
suggested I go to File Maker. I did a preliminary try of it and was
impressed with it but it goes for $300+/- which is a bit serious on my
software budget. Add the $300 to the cost of XP ($200) and there goes a
grand. Then this makes me think if I get serious about File Maker and XP,
shouldn't I consider upping my computer from a 1.2 gig cpu ASUS TSLUC-2 with
10K rpm SCSI drives, to a new system? Then of course one should consider a
new 24" Samsung stereo flat panel. And the dominos continue to fall.
All of this results with new learning curves which when one is in their
seventies spends serious remaining time before going to room temperature.
But the bright side is, I have a better chance of reaching 100 than any high
school youngster!<G>
Then doing all of the above, Windows '05 shows up on the store shelves. And
using the words of Balboa, "It's the great circle route."
BTW, Balboa is a VP of Sales up in Kirkland.<G>
