First of all, all my friends trash Microsoft all the time because of
all the little glitches in the programs that make it (sometimes)
impossible to finish our work.
For instance.
I type.
1. testing
Then hit return and I get the beginning of an autoformated list, except
instead of leaving the 1. where I placed it, the program automatically
moves it about 1/4 inch to the right for me. If I had wanted it there,
I would have put it there in the first place.
I spent a long time on the phone with a lovely man from Nova
Scotia--Corey--who helped me understand that if I wanted it to stay
put, I had to just type
1 testing
without the period, and it would stay put. But if I do that, then I
can't get an autoformated list with numbers that change automatically.
Why is it that Microsoft seems to think that they know better than I do
where to put my list?
And this is only the beginning of the problems. I run into stuff like
this every day. The other day I finally gave up, took out my scissors
and made my document the old fashioned way, cutting and taping and
using my trusty old duplicating machine to make the copies to paste in.
Come on, Microsoft! Get with the program. Sometimes I think that the
people who design these programs don't work in an office.
After all, it is MICROSOFT OFFICE!!!!!!
