Is there a way to globally mimic a Keyboard assignemnt (say
ctrl-shift-S ) in VBA that will globally work on any powerpoint
prsentation I open on my machine? The KeyPress command only works with
userforms

Chirag Dalal has developed an addin for PowerPoint that allows the user to
assign keyboard shortcuts; he also sells the source. Have a look here:
