Global.mpt settings

Hi,
I have a problem with global.mpt. When I launch project from a menu it
starts with what I consider to be my default global.mpt file. But when I
launch project by double clicking on a schedule in windows explorer a
different version seems to be used.
My default one has a lot of local modifications I made to it so I want to
keep using this.

Also I have a problem that I think is related to this. When project starts
it has two tool bars side by side. There is a setting to have them on
separate lines but no matter how many times I set it, the next time I start
project they are side by side again.

Any help with either of these would be appreciated.

I'm using MSP 2003 pro

Thanks

Are you in a network? It sounds like your Project program folder or some of
its files are marked read-only or are pointing to a network share that you
have only read access privileges for.

I am on a network but my PC is a laptop and I also run project when I'm not
on the network. I have admin privileges on the laptop itself (not the
network).
When running without the network I get the global.mpt file that doesn't have
any of my own modules in it (I just tried it before responding to you).
Given when I'm on the network I can do whatever I want to the global.mpt
with my modules in it I would say I have write access.

Try this experiment - while connected to the network make some trivial
change to the global file. Perhaps in an otherwise empty project file
create a new calendar and use the organizer to copy it to the global. Then
close Project without saving the file, log off the network, log back in,
open Project and see if the calendar is still there. I've seen scenarios
where it appears that you have write access to global in that no error
messages appear but when you try to modify it the changes don't "stick"
through a reboot.
