Global replace

I have created a merged document that has 100 occurences of a graphic that I
need to change. I tried using ^g and replacing with ^c (with the new object
in the Clipboard), but Word still does not recognize any occurence of the
graphic. I also made sure that wildcard options were selected.

What should I try next?

I have already edited and made a large number of changes to the document
(it's 50 pages), so re-running is not an option...
