Global Resoure Pool and Blank Tasks

I am using MS Project 2003 SP3.

I have 54 blank tasks that show up in the resource usage view that do not
show up in the gantt view. In the resouce view, for these tasks, the ID and
Name fields are blank, however the Start, Finish, and Work all have entries
in them.

Are these quirks or human error?

I would like to delete them, unless someone can tell me they are serving
some useful purpose.
