Global Template Cannot Quit App.

When I try to quit I get "Word cannot save changes to the global template
because it was opened with read-only access. Do you want to save the changes
in a template with a different name?"
1) There is no template open
2) When I try the "Save" choice, it allows a name, but won't let the SAVE
button go active
3) I can hit "Don't Save" and it will quit
4) But every time I relaunch it gives me the same problem
5) This is w/ Office 2004 MAC
Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Look at Tools>templates and addins> have a look at the global
templates which you have checked there. That's where your problems
lies. Word cannot write changes in to this file.

OK:

1) Word ALWAYS has a template open -- it can't work without one.

2) Unless you specifically attach a different one, that template is the
Normal template in your Microsoft User Data folder.

3) If Word will not allow you to save the template, there's your problem.
Somehow, your template folder has become read-only to you.

What name are you specifying? And what File Format?

Cheers
