Gluing objects

I am having inconsistancies in making objects glue to
each other. I create an object, add a connection point
to make sure it glues at a certain point and sometimes
other objects will snap and glue to the point and other
times it will not snap or glue at all. All my settings in
the Snap & Glue section of Tools have been selected and
still one object will glue while another will not. I've
tried different connection point types and still it will
not glue. Why is it so inconsistant? Why will some
objects glue to anything while others will glue to
nothing?

Hello Critter. Try this: View, Connection points. You should see on your
shapes small blue Xs. Those are the points. If your shape does not have an X
use the connection point tool. BLUES X tool and Ctrl click the tool on the
edge of a shape that does not have a blue X.

I've added connection points to everything, selected all
the snap & glue options, but the connection points do not
snap or glue to each other. It's as if all the options
are turned off and connections points are non-existant.
Even on the same drawing another object will glue with no
problem. Doesn't make any sense why one will glue and
another will not. Could it be the complexity of the
object???

Visio 2002 offers 3 types of connection points. Inward, Outward and Inward
& Outward. Your selections in snap & glue will affect all your pages. Could
be as you suggests the type of object. An Inward looks like an X and an
Outward looks like a tiny square. When two shapes ( an inward and outward)
connect, if you move the outward one both shapes detach. If you move the
inward one, both shapes move together. So (to me) it is important to be able
to tell the difference between those two shapes so that you can drag the
proper one. I hope that I am clear in my explanations

I've done all that. Read my original post. Doesn't
matter which type of connection point I use, nothing
matters.
