Gmail IMAP mail doesn't automatically download

I have my Gmail IMAP account set in the send/receive group to download
the entire message. I have this group set to send/receive every 3
minutes. However, my emails do not automatically download (nothing
does, even headers). When I click on the folder, then it downloads
everything in that folder.

I need it to download as I may grab my laptop and not have internet
access and need all my emails downloaded.

Am I missing something? Never had a problem with POP mail in Outlook.

Did you sunscribe to all the folders you want to see offline?

POP works entirely differently that IMAP, so it's pointless to compare their
behaviors. Moreover, POP doesn't know anything about folders on the server.

I believe so. I see the folders. When I search for the folder names
they show up under the subscribed tab. Where do you actually
subscribe to the folders?

If they're onthe Subscribed tab, then you've subscribed to them. Have you
opened your Send/Receive group and selected each folder?

I selected to "download complete items including attachments for
subscribed folders". I cannot figure it out. Even after entering the
folder, only headers are downloaded. If I am offline, I cannot read my
email.

I also tried "custom" and selected download complete item and
attachments and that didn't work either.
