Gmail problem

I'm trying to reply to someone with gmail account. No issue until I just got
this:

Relaying mail to gmail.com is not allowed

Mail could not be sent

Error 17099


Never had a problem with this person before.

Can't reply or even send a brand new e mail, any ideas?

Hi Kevs,

I'm afraid you're not giving us enough information. How do you proceed? What
kind of e-mail account do you use? Does it happen all the time? Was there
anything noteworthy around the time all this stopped working? Is this
someone the only recipient, or is he or she one of many? Related to that: is
the error message truly 17099, or is it -17099? If it is -17099, that's a
known issue (related to some of the questions I've just asked), and you can

sending my very first email with entourage to one person using IMAP gmail account. same problem. a search of Microsoft's site for error 17099 shows nothing. It gives error 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first 34sm7147207agc.24

One would think Microsoft would test to see if Entourage would work with imap gmail? Would have its help search engine pre-populated with error numbers? Would not make the user have to close the "Error Description" in order to access the "Help" web page? And all this for hundreds of dollars?

It was tested with Gmail IMAP and it does work.
