Go back command still gone after 12.1.0...

After applying the 12.1.0 update, the Go back command still does not
work after an application restart. This is a tremendously useful
feature old Word hands have relied on for eons. Didn't anyone during
beta testing notice that this functionality was being removed?

Thanks, Patricio. I'm not sure if this was already on their radar or
not, but I just reported it.

Yes, we noticed, and we reported it.

It is a logged bug. I believe they will fix it, but it's not one of their
most urgent bugs :)

Cheers

At the rate they're being introduced, I'll bet. :)

I notice this discussion happened in May. I was wondering whether anyone yet
had figured out whether there is any way to create a shortcut to get one back
to the last cursor entry when reopening a document? Or even a way to choose
for it to open up there? Thanks, and sorry if this has been answered already.

No, not yet.

The command actually exists in Word: it is called "GoBack" and it takes you
to the position of the previous three edits.

It's configured on the standard keyboard as Shift + F5 and as Command +
Option + z.

The bug is that the bookmarks it relies on are wiped out when the document
is saved.

You could write an AppleScript to set a bookmark at the location before
closing the document, and another to go to that bookmark after opening the
document.

But it's clunky and doesn't do what we want.

Sorry

Thanks, the functionality is just as I remember it and now I know why I can't
do it. No more headbanging for a while, so thanks. Let's just hope it gets
fixed.
