Go to absolute page number

In a document with many sections, how do I go to an absolute page number,
for instance, page 51/363?

If I try using the Go To dialog box, it takes me to page 51 of the first
section that has 51 or more pages. In the case of the document in question,
that was page 149/363 (but it was page 51 of that section).

Type in s2p51 or s9p144 and not just the page number.

Your question was complicated enough for me to understand, how do you expect
Word to know? So you have to tell Word the section as well as the page
number. This is the same for printing parts of documents too.

Thanks for giving me something to try. Although it's not what I asked for,
it gave me an idea to test.

It's actually the other way around. I don't know the section number, nor do
I know the page number within the section; I only know the absolute page
number in the document. Without regard to sections, I'm trying to get to the
51st page in the entire 363-page document.

I just tried typing 51/363 in the Goto dialog and Word said it was not a
valid number.

Got it! Thanks for giving me a lead to the solution.

If I type p51, it goes to absolute page 51. (Which happens in this document
to be page 21 of section 6.

Odd that there's no help for the GoTo dialog, given that this isn't obvious.
(At least, clicking the ? in that dialog only provides help for Find and
Replace. Searching for help on Go To only provides help on going to a
specific bookmark.)
