Goal seek

I have a excel spreadsheet calculating yield of an investment.

I am using function "YIELD", in which there are 4 items : sold date
sold price, bought date and purchased price.

the last two items are fixed, won't change.

the first two are variables.

Firstly, i will enter the sold date. then adjust the sold price unti
the yield reach 4 %.

I heard that i can use "goal seek" , can anyone help me how to use thi
function?

thanks a lot!!!!

On the Tools menu, click Goal Seek.
In the Set cell box, enter the reference for the cell that contains the
formula you want to resolve. (YIELD)

In the To value box, type the result you want. (4)

In the By changing cell box, enter the reference for the cell that
contains the value you want to adjust. (sold price)

Click OK.

Select the cell with the YIELD formula in it.
Tools > Goal seek
The dialogue box is very easy to fill in.

Cindy, Yield is a percentage, perhaps you need to enter 0.04 in order
to get what you want.
