I'm not sure how this was triggered, but I absent-mindedly overwrote an
existing .one file (after working on it for several days) with an outdated
version from my laptop.
Before I began to officially go insane, I checked the My Notebook folder and
noticed a file with the prefix "(backup) Filename.one". I was able to
restore it and be on my way.
I move .one files back and forth from my laptop/desktop all the time and had
never seen this- I'm very happy it was triggered now.
Under what circumstances does this backup occur?
