Going back to Office 98

I mostly use OS9.2.2 w/Office 98. However, I had purchased Office v.x
with VPC and installed it when I installed OS 10.3. Office changed
the way the Office 98 file icons look in OS 9.2.2 (not a problem),
but, now, when I double click on any of these icons in OS 9, I get a
message saying I need to be on OSX. Opening the files from within the
Office 98 application works but I'd still like to be able to double
click a document in the finder to open it. I tried rebuilding the
desktop, but that didn't fix it. Anyone know of a way to change the
files back?

If you do a Get Info on the file icon (Command I) you can set the
application with which you want to open that particular file. In that same
dialog box there's a box labeled "Change ALL" you can check to have all Word
files open in Word98, for instance.

Unless the file type codes have changed in 2004 (I don't know that) that
might cause all Word documents to open in 98 after that.
