Sorry bit stressed. I am trying to chain patches to Office 2K3. I have read
through all the docs I can find. So far all I have succesfully accomplished
is to get office to install without any programs actually being installed. I
am using compressed CD image on server. I have a folder called chained that
has SP2 and all patches released in folders 1-12 so I chain them by date. I
created a Transform.MSP file in which I selected the defaults for everything
except when I got to the part where I selected the programs I wanted, there I
selected run all from my computer. Otherwise nothing else changed. I tried
adding the patches to the setup.ini in the chained patches location at the
end of the file. this is the format I used.

I launched the process with a batch file as follows:
start \\servername\AIP-1\Office2K3CD\setup.exe
TRANSFORMS=\\servername\AIP-1\Office2K3CD\CompressedCD.MST reinstall=all
reinstallmode=vomus /qb-
When run it looked like the chained patches started to launch then errored
out with a cmdline error but no info as to what was wrong. Add and Remove
programs showed it installed but no patches and when opening the start menu
nothing was in the office folder except the application recovery tool. I
uninstalled it and restarted. Now that the botched install happened if I try
to do an install with the same batch file and the INI that was existing
before I modified it I get the same thing. The bat has worked in the past
without any problems I just don't understand it. I checked the MST and I
don't see anything wrong there unless I am not supposed to set the programs
to run from my computer.
What I would like is a quiet install with a generated log saved to c:temp on
the client computer. Could someone with a better understanding of how to
interpret the fragmented support documents post a correction to both my batch
and chain config.
