Going From Access 2003 to Access 2007

My company is changing to Office 2007 and I need to know if all the queries,
forms and reports created in Access 2003 will run under Access 2007. Can you
leave them in the Access 2003 version? Are there problems converting them
from 2003 to 2007?

Thanks,

You can always start by opening the db's in compatibility mode (just open the
db and it will show in the app. title bar). By converting it you won't be
able to use it in earlier versions. Depending on the build in funtionality in
the db cenversion might go smooth but any fancy stuff might lead to reference
problems which you may have to solve (check the checkboxes in the VBA window
under Tools-references). Developing in 2007 and then saving it back to an
earlier version might show one or two surprises along the way...

From my experience, the only real problem moving up to 2007 is if you've
have a customised date picker next to any date fields, you'll have to decide
whether to disable the picker from the form or remove your customised one.
Otherwise, vista is happy to take earlier versions.

My biggest gripe is for other people who may use the database who do not use
2007. Backends are normally fine but front ends are thwart with references
problems, particularly ADOX.

Make sure all users are using 2007, or that they are able to install the
runtime version of 2007. It would then be best to convert your front ends
to .accdb files so that their computers can distinquish between databases
they normally use (using old MS-Access version) and your database that
requires the 2007 runtime.

I hope this helps a bit

My appologies, the References issue is more to do with switching between
operating systems rather than versions of MS-Access.
