Going nuts with Frontpage hidden folders

R

Rob Gordon

Hi,

I am trying to publish a PowerPoint presentation in FrontPage. I've
done this before but this time most of the critical files are in
hidden folders and I can't seem to unhide them. I've checked the
"show hidden files and folders in the Web Settings dialog box but it
doesn't seem to work I know the folders are there because I checked
in explorer. Can anyone give me a clue- I am at a loss.

Thank you

Rob

Hi Rob,

Wow, can I ever relate to your pain!

I use FrontPage 2003 and PowerPoint 2003 and have struggled with the
same issues many times over.

I know that when one saves a PPT presentation as a web page, there's
another folder that is created and appears with the extension of
"_files".

Whenever I go to my FrontPage program to publish my PPT presentation to
my site, I click File, Import...and when the dialogue box pops up, I
click "Add folder", and select the "_files" folder that was created in
PPT.

Once or twice, I've accidentally had my cursor on my "private files" in
FrontPage, so what then happened was that when an individual tried to
access my presentation, they were told that they had no access
privileges. This frustrated me to no end.

Then I figured out that when I went to publish, I had to make sure that
none of my FrontPage folders were 'selected' at the time I went to
publish, so that my PPT presentation could be accessed by all and
wasn't restricted.

I'm obviously unaware of what your exact problem is, but there's always
a workaround and I'm sure there will be some FrontPage/PowerPoint
experts around shortly to help you out!

I wish you the best of luck with this!

Karen
