Good grief! Which are ESSENTIAL updates?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since many of us cannot get Auto Updater to work and some have resorted to 'manual' updates, it becomes really important to know which updates are essential and which have been combined into later updates.

After a fresh install of 12.0.0 with no subsequent updates working, which updates must I install for the next update to work?

For instance...

Do I need to scour around for 12.0.1 or was it combined into 12.1.0? And what about all the others? I don't even know what's been released, let alone what's essential for me to load.

Does someone have a list of all the ESSENTIAL updates since 12.0.0?

Thank you.

I think you'll find them on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx

If it is to be believed, essentail updates to 12.0.0 are 12.1.0,
12.1.5 and 12.1.7.

If it is to be believed, essentail updates to 12.0.0 are 12.1.0,
12.1.5 and 12.1.7.

12.1.7 appears to include 12.1.5. There is some conflicting info on whether
it contains the 12.1.0 updater.

Follow these steps to reinstall:

* Launch the Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU).To launch MAU, you can open any
Office application and select "Check for Updates" under Help in the Menu
bar. Once MAU is launched, select "Keep in Dock"
* Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down
to disable any startup items.) Be sure all applications are quit before
running updater. IMPORTANT
* Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
* Empty Trash.
* Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk.
* Restart
* Update to 12.1.0 (if you have a newer DVD you might only need the 12.1.7)
* Restart (restarting before you launch any app is important!)
* Update to 12.1.7
* Restart

Note: If you used "Remove Office" you would need to download and install the
Microsoft Auto Updater (MAU) for a complete re-install.

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

This is version 2.2.0

Hope this helps!

Just got word back that it does require 12.1.0 to be installed. So the
12.1.5 updater was rolled into the 12.1.7 combo updater.

And that is precisely what I did to update (once I resolved the updater issues themselves): installed 12.1.0 then 12.1.7, which the MAU suggested as the next update.
