Good Question

I didn't really paid attention to InfoPath in the past till this morning when
I started to play with it. I found out I can use it to develop some templates
that pull data from a SQL database and provide some extra fields for data
entry. I have 2 questions:

First: Can I publish the templates the way that users who have Office 2003
and the ones who have earlier versions can both use them? Can I publish them
in another format than the InfoPath's ex: html?

Second: Can I push data entered into templates back to SQL Server?

Please advise

Thanks a lot

You should be able to. I may need an expert to back me up though.
When you design your form click "new from data connection". From there,
select the database that you are going to submit to. That will be your Main
connection. The form should give you both query fields and entry fields
which would allow you to look up and enter whatever you set up. You are also
able to set up secondary data connections that will let you recieve data to
your form (example: seperate database containing names, numbers, etc...).
As far as saving under a different format...That's what I'm the most unsure
of. I thought I read that you can publish it as a web form, so you'd have to
have access to a web server to do this. People pull it up as a web page
pretty much.
Download SP1 for infopath...it will probably help some if you haven't yet.

Hope this helps in any way at all.

All customers who need to view or edit InfoPath forms must have InfoPath
installed. That said, we support deployments such as Office XP + InfoPath
2003.

Thanks,
Alex @ Microsoft
