Is there a good web version of these newsgroups, ie word, excel etc. I have
not found one that connects well and is efficient.

Thanks

This system is much better that web forums. Here you can find easily, even
the very old messages.

Try "Word 4", for instance, the first mac office I used.

Go here <http://groups.google.com/> and type in the first search field "word
4" + mac

Do you see?

Hi Kevs:

Use this one:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/help.mspx?app=4

I think you will find it is a huge improvement on Google :)

But if you really want the "Gold Label" experience, use Entourage to connect
direct to the server :)

Cheers

Problems? What problems? I am not seeing any problems in Entourage?? :)

At least the Google interface didn't present the problems we're seeing now.

VALANET: Boy I wish I have not read your post. I went to Google and I can't
get out. If says:

Update Email Address

You've changed the email addresses associated with your Google Account since
the last time you visited Google Groups.
You need you to decide what to do with your subscriptions on your old email
address.

Removed Addresses:
Edit your Google Account Addresses
You can choose to re-add these addresses to this Google Account from the
Google Account page.

Change Existing Subscriptions
Change all of your existing Google Groups subscriptions which use an old
address to the address below.

Don't Change Subscriptions
Leave your existing subscriptions with your old email address.

Note: These subscriptions will no longer be available to this Google Account
Login. To access these subscriptions via the web in the future, you will
have to create a new Google Account for your old address, or add the address
back to this account. You will still be able to manage these subscriptions
via email.

Whether I change or LEAVE, I still keep getting this message, I can't BEAT
OR LICK this message. It will NEVER GO away, NO matter that I click leave
address or Change address five times each.

ALSO: Does Google groups even have e mail notification? It's not all all
clear as it's such a sloppy place to deal with.

THANKS JOHN
Mactopia does look lot better than Google. Why is Google so lame when they
have so much money to hire great designers?

Does Mactopia have e mail notification?

What do you mean by Gold Label experience, and what is connection directly
to server? Maybe it's what I've been doing for years is just using Entourge
direct with newsgroups. It's been great, but has no e mail notification, so
if I finish with thread and 2 weeks later someone adds something, I wont
see, because I have given up on it. With e mail notification, I will see it.

Hi Kevs:

Play around with the Views in Entourage. You can Flag a thread. If you do,
and someone adds a post to it, you can make a view that shows you "Flagged,
unread only".

Or you can make a Rule that scans the groups when you download them,
searching for particular subjects. When it finds one, it can copy the post
to your inbox. That way, you will never miss one.

If you are in newsgroups a lot, a dedicated newsreader is a hell of a lot
faster and easier than a web interface. The web interface is really only
for occasional posters: it was never meant for newsgroup mavens.

Cheers
