Google verify

Mike Barnes

I am 69, as thick as two short planks but I have managed, after many patient
hours, without prior knowledge or instruction, to compile and publish a 6
page website following the help files. I have subsequently spent an equal
amount of time painstakingly trying to have my site ownership verified by
Google.
Can someone tell me in simple terms, bearing in mind my afflictions, how to
get my ownership verified?
The site is compiled in Microsoft Publisher where I have no access to the
code (I think) and my host is fasthosts.co.uk

Mike,

Contrary to some people's beliefs, computers were not invented just for the
younger generation so age does not restrict you >smile<....and you can't be
that thick or you wouldn't have attempted the learning curve of producing a
web site in the first place :) well done!

As to your question about your site being verified by Google, I'm not sure
what you mean by that, but if you want Google to pick up your site you
should first let them know that you are there. Go to
http://www.google.co.uk/addurl/?continue=/addurl and follow the instructions
to submit your URL. There are other things that you will need to do to
ensure good optimization by search engines...but that's another subject.

To access your code, on each page go to >view>source and all of your code
will open in a notepad window. However, I find the beauty of using Publisher
to build your webpage is that you really don't need to understand
complicated coding...although it helps if you can learn a little.

Tell us which version of Publisher you are using ....and if I've missed the
point of your question, post back with a little more explanation and I'm
sure someone will help.
