I have added my Google Mail Account, all is well the test message sends
etc... but the actual mail doesn't show up in Out look

How would I sort this out?

yes , thats how google mail works
if you send one to yoself using outlook ., it will never show in your inbox
of outlook,
but it will show in inbox googlemail.com

Check your mail settings in gmail.

Are you not getting any mail or just not the test message? Gmail hides
messages you send so you won't see it in the inbox.
