We have this spreadsheet that upon opening in Excel 97 SR2
creates this GPF error message. I have searched the
Knowledge Base, but I don't seem to see something related
to this.

There isn't any problem opening the file in Excel XP.
Could there be some type of conversion issue involved.

Can someone please help me.

Try (from Excel XP) to:

- open the file
- save-as, filetype webpage
- close Excel XP
- open Excel XP
- load the webpage
- save-as normal Excel file

Now try if XL97 likes the file again.

Hi Steven,
Thanks it worked. But why would this happen?

Obviously because the file contained some sort of corruption Excel 97
did not like and Excel XP was able to bypass. I would advise to backup
this file regularly or maybe even consider a rebuild.
