GPF when opening a97 database generated in a2k3

I have a database created in Access 2003. It has been converted to Access 97
format from 2003. If you try to open it with Access 97 the database GPFs.
Error signature:
AppName: msaccess.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.5903 ModName: mso97.dll
ModVer: 8.0.0.5425 Offset: 001034f0
Help please?

Have you tried to repair that MDB? What about importing into a new
MDB?

Yes. Tried all the above. I created a new blank database using Office 97 and
imported the objects. However, trying to import the menubars caused a GPF
every time; all other items imported successfully. So I ended up re-creating
the menubar.

It would seem that the A97 generator in A2k3 does not successfully generate
A97 menubars. Microsoft refuse to discuss this issue as I get the problem
when opening the database in A97 which is not supported!!!

Yeah, well I can sorta see this from their viewpoint too. Likely
the last time anyone touched the A97 down conversion code was back in
1999 or 2000 whenever A2000 was being built. They don't want to go
back now.

Hi Tony
Yeh! I don't want to continue this indefinitely but the offending utility is
the A97 convertor in Access **2003**. You would think this should be up to
scratch & any mods necessary being distributed in the A2k3 patches. My guess
is that it simply has not been tested thoroughly. As I mentioned it is in the
export of CommandBars where the problem exists.
