Grabing the lowest cost on a table

I have multiple categories, in a product table:
what I want to do is group the categories together and get
the product in that category that has the cheapest price,
and to tell me what vendor is offering that cost.

I have been working on it for a few days and just can't
get it. I get it close. I get it down to telling me the
cheapest product in each category, but when I add
the "tell me the vendor info" it lists all the products
and categories
