I would like to give a letter grade (A-B-C) a numerical value for calculating averages over a semester. How do i give a letter a numerical grade?

One way: If the letter grade is in A1, in B1 enter
=IF(A1="A",100,IF(A1="B",90,80)). Or, create a table and use VLOOKUP in B1.
