Gradient angle in background

When I go to Format, Slide Background, Gradient and then I try to change the Angle, I can't rotate it. It's greyed out and I can't do anything.

Anyone know what gives? Why do they have an option I can't use?

You can only change the angle of a gradient if your gradient type is
³Linear². There should be a popup menu to the left of the angle dial that
has ³Linear² as an option. Let us know if that doesn¹t help!
