Grading formula problem

I need to exclude a student's grade from the formula
because she was absent...so I need to exclude one cell.
But my program includes that cell as if it is a zero.

if the student is absent it needs to be included ... but
that's a philosophical issue. To answer the question
about missing grades, however, try using the AVERAGE
function rather than sum divided by number of tests given.
