Grammar and Proofing Tools.. what gives?

Chris

Ok, I think I may have received some bum advise from MS.

Have an SBS2003 environment where all the clients were running OfficeXP.

They upgraded to the Outlook2003 that's with SBS2003. No problem.. except
now when they compose mail, the grammar checker is not available, as
apparently it was available with Word as the editor and Outlook2003 will not
accept WordXP as the editor..

We contacted someone at MS through the 1-800 number, and were advised we
could buy Office2003 (an expensive measure) or another method would be to
buy Office Proofing Tools 2003.

So, that's what we did. We ordered in a couple copies of Proofing Tools
2003 and did a test install of one.. and so far, we can't figure out how
this adds a grammar checker at all. In fact, as near as we can figure, we
can't tell what changes it made at all!

What gives? Since the product doesn't come with a book and the help file is
rather slim, we're at a loss.. did it add grammar ability to Outlook2003 or
no? And if so, where?

All versions of Office require the same level of programs for
interoperability. If you use different versions, you will always lose
Office Automation options, such as the ability to use the Send To options in
Office, mail merges, etc.

Ok, but, my question remains.. we were advised that the way to add Grammar
checking to Outlook2003 (as it comes with SBS) was either (a) Buy Office
2003 or (b) Buy Proofing Tools. We did the latter, and the Microsoft Rep
was handy enough to even give us the SKU to order.

But we can't find where it made any changes to Outlook 2003 to allow for
grammar checking.

Were they wrong?

Welp, after some time passes, apparently no one knows why MS would
apparently provide us bogus info :(

Apparently, their suggestion of buying proofing tools does nothing to
add grammar options to Outlook 2003, or if it does, no one can find
it. After talking to MS, I received one person in their help center
today who said yes, it would add grammar to Outlook2003 as an
alternative to upgrading the office to Office2003, and another person
who said it wouldn't.

MS needs to straighten this out so a lot of us who just doled out $$
based on advice of their people don't get screwed.
