Grammar Check Problem

M

Hi,

I am grammar checking a one page document The grammar checker goes through
its routine until it gets to its last suggestion, then the screen freezes
and the cursor changes into a frozen clock. At the same time, the document
changes form and appears with a horizontal bar two thirds of the way down
from the top of the document. This bar is wider than a scroll bar and the
document looks similar to the document in normal view when header and footer
are selected. The only way to get out of this bind is to quit word using
control opt esc. When word is reopened, none of the grammar check changes
have been saved. Also, the right hand vertical scroll bar is missing and I
have to go into preferences to check it back into place. I have repeated
this operation three or four times and the same freezing occurs. In the
case of the document in which this is happening, the last grammar check
suggestion is to change "Self Addressed Env..." into "Self-Addressed
Env...". When I click "change", that's when everything freezes as described
above. This has never happened before.

Any suggestions?

Hi Rafael:

Suggestion 1: Send me that document. Microsoft would like to have a look
at it.

Suggestion 2: Correct the text by hand :)

This probably has nothing to do with the grammar checker. It is likely that
there is a corruption in the document that affects the area the grammar
checker is trying to change. When the grammar checker edits the text it
corrupts the document and crashes Word.

Cheers

Rafael *did* send me the document -- there was nothing wrong with the
document, so the mystery deepens...
