Grammer problem

Hi everybody,

I got this weird problem. Word keeps green-underlining the word 'internet'
because i don't capitalize the letter 'i'. Since the word 'internet' isn't
the word which my stence begins with, i wonder why 'he' does
green-underlining it?

To solve this problem, i've tried custom dictionary. But since it only
contains a few words i still have to use the main dictionary.

I've also tried to exclude it. But that somehow doesn't work either. I got 2
dictionaries, and im using the Dutch language as my default dictionary. So i
made 2 exclude doc's in c:\docs & sets\app data\microsoft\PROOF a MSSP3NL.exc
and a MSSP3EN.exc.

Im wondering if this exclude option only works for red-underlined words? If
not, can somebody tell me what i might be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Anne Troy,

First of all, thank you for your reply. I just looked this up about the
'proper noun' stuff in Word. And it doesn't say anything about capitalizing
it. Nor does a english and Dutch teacher agree that it should be capitalized.

Seriously now, do you know how many words i should capitalize if this is
just because it's a 'proper noun' Anne?

Sorry but that didn't helped...........

All of them! -- the set of proper nouns is unbounded, but you still have to
capitalise them when you find them.

All proper nouns are capitalised in *E*nglish. (Your teacher's ignorance and
your stupidity have no effect on that.) There is some debate about whether
"Internet" is or is not a proper noun; but most dictionaries and style
guides (and Microsoft Word) argue that it is, because the word refers to
one, specific, identifiable thing.

The term Internet is capitalized. And there's no simple answer to your
question. If you disagree with Word's suggested changes, turn that feature
off or tell it the "internet" is an acceptable spelling.
