Graph software embedded in PPT

As often becomes the case when I incorporate lot of charts in a PPT document using the Graph function, I come to a point where I am unable to change data or column/row names on the datasheet. In the past, I have solved the problem by deleting the preference file (graph plist), but this time, the replacement plist does not appear. I'm stuck. What can I do to restore datasheet editing capability?
