Amy

when I click on a graphic in Word or PowerPoint 2003 I get the usual
autorotate circles around the graphic but if I click it again the autorotate
circles stay around the graphic but then I also get these grayed out circles
with an x through them in the graphic as well. What is the function of these
and what are the called?

Hi Amy,

The greyed out circled 'x's can indicate that the graphic is
a grouped item (from the right click or Draw button on the
drawing toolbar try using 'ungroup' while the object is
selected. (The behavior can be different if you're in
the Office controlled Insert=>Diagram applet).
