Graphic Indicators - PWA 2007

I need to be able to have graphic indicators show up in PWA views based on
formulas in project level views. (I am using project level text fields) I can
get graphic indicators to work at the task level and I can get graphic
indicators to show up in a Project level field (sometimes see below).

If I create a new file I can create a project level view that has graphic
indicators that key off of look up tables but that require me to manually
change the values. This really does me no good. I must have the values based
on formulas.

Oddly with plans that are created first, the values in the custom field are
lost when the file is saved and published.

Any Ideas?

First sentence should say "I need to be able to have graphic indicators show
up in PWA views based on formulas in project level FIELDS."

This is what I sent IT

In an attempt to create reporting for Sr Mgt I have been tasked with writing
some simple formulas and displaying the results in PWA with Graphical
Indicators. This should be simple enough. I understand how to write formulas
and assign indicators. With formulas and indicators written into task level
fields or project level fields the results are inconstant and more often then
not the indicators do not work.

As an example I will have an indicator that should turn blue if the
specified field val = 1. It will in this example display the correct color
for the data entered. Then I will go into server settings and change the
color that is assigned to the value. After I reopen the plan to resave and
republish, PWA may give me the new color, the old color or the numerical
value. This is totally nonsensical.

As a second example: I will again have gotten a PWA graphic indicator to
work for a plan. When I open, save and publish a second plan to replicate the
indicator PWA will only give me the numerical value for the second plan.
Since all the formulas and settings live in the server I can not imagine what
is going on here.

My first assumption was user error but after two days of uttering four
letter words I suspect that there is a server issue. Does this make sense?
Also of interest is the fact that we have two instances of PWA, one on a
dedicated server and one on a virtual server.

I am using MSP Pro 07 Enterprise and for if it makes any difference (I do
not think so) I am only running ½ gig ram on the local pc.
