graphic is in the doc and prints, but can't find to delete

I have a weird problem. We have a document (church bulletin) that we update
and publish every week. Several weeks ago, a graphic was used that now
keeps showing up (only a corner of the graphic prints, actually) whenever we
print the document. We can't figure out how to find it to delete it. Any
help?

This can happen when the position of the graphic is defined as being
somewhere off the page, and it can happen (we think) when you change the
page size. Is there a chance you could set the document (temporarily) to a
larger page size to see if you can see and snag the graphic? If not, I
believe someone around here came up with some macros that will find and
delete it. Another possibility is to switch to Reading Layout view and see
whether you can see and delete it there (won't work if it's anchored to the
header or footer, though).

I had tried most of your suggestions before posting. Most of the graphic is
indeed off the page. It does not appear on any of the views (in version
2003 OR 2007). I've checked the header and footer (we use neither in this
document) and can't see it there. It doesn't even appear on the print
preview ... but it appears when we print the document.

I hope someone can write a macro that we can use to find and eliminate the
problem.

Thanks.

When all else fails try doing a "Maggie" ;-)

Select all but the last ¶ (Control+A, Shift-Left Arrow), copy, then paste
to a new blank document & save. When you print that is the image gone?

Bob,

Thanks, but the graphic moved with the copied text. I don't understand why
I can't find it in any view ... nor does it show up in the print preview.

I think I'm just going to have to recreate the whole document. It's not
large, but getting the layout where we wanted it (text boxed, etc.) was a
little time consuming.

Have you tried using the Browse By button at the bottom of the vertical
scrollbar? Click the round button that's nestled between the two sets of
double arrowheads, choose Graphic from the palette then use the arrows to
navigate by graphic until the culprit gets nabbed then delete it.

Also, here are some other techniques for dealing with corruption:

Save As Web Page, #4 & #7 in that order - one or the other ought to bring
things right.
