Graphic jumps to top of page

I have inserted a graphic using the "square" layout, but it jumps around the
page in a very unpredictable manner. For example, if the graphic is just
slightly below the top of the page, moving it up slightly causes the graphic
to jump into the header section of the page and to remain there even if I
try to move it back. The only workaround I have found is to either: (1) use
the "in line with text" layout, which eliminates the ability to wrap text
around a graphic, or (2) insert the graphic into a table using the "in line
with text" layout, and insert the text next to it, which is somewhat messy.
Is there a better solution to this problem?

Hi Mark,

You should always mention the version of Word involved in a problem...

From the description, I'd guess that the basic file structure underlaying the
document has been damaged. Possibly in the area that manages the paragraphs
(the paragraph marks).

You might try round-tripping the document to another file format. What's
available depends on the version of Word you have?

I am using word XP, but have also had this problem with word 2000. And,
this has been an ongoing problem, not just with a single document.
