Graphic jumps when moved (grid off)

In Word, when moving a graphic a small increment, it instead jumps a much
larger distance. Sometimes not even in the same direction - i.e. using the
up arrow to nudge instead results in the graphic moving further down the
page. Have turned grid off, even set it to minimum increment (0.01"). Have
tried all available wrapping styles (in front, in line, square, etc.) and
still no effect. Also, moving with mouse does not drop graphic in desired
location - sometime way off mark.

Have you specified some form of text wrapping? If not it should make life
easier

Yes I have. I've tried several different ones, but to no effect. It's more
of problem when trying to align a callout or line on top of an imported jpg.
It seems like it wants to snap to a .5" grid, even though I have the grid set
at .01 or just turned off.

You can move the graphics to any precision by doing th following;
1. Press the Alt key on the keyboard.
2. Click the image using the right mouse button.
3. Move the image to any direction. The image moves smoothly in any direction.
4. Release the right mouse button and the Alt Key on the keyboard.
